The sixth assessment report of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) on March 20, 2023 further warns of the severity and urgency of the climate crisis. If the trend of greenhouse gas emissions cannot be quickly reversed, catastrophic impacts will be inevitable, fundamentally constraining human development.

During the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (COP26), countries around the world have further agreed that achieving carbon neutrality and achieving the 1.5 ℃ target of the Paris Agreement by the middle of this century are necessary tasks to delay and ultimately reverse climate change.

Our Chinese government also explicitly stated at the United Nations General Assembly in September 2020 that carbon dioxide emissions should aim to peak before 2030 and strive to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. Enterprises are the main source of greenhouse gas emissions and the responsible entity for promoting carbon peaking and carbon neutrality. The steady and orderly preparation of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality action plans by enterprises is an inevitable requirement for implementing the national strategy of actively responding to climate change and promoting low-carbon, high-quality, and sustainable development of enterprises.

Our ESG Philosophy

Jinming has the concept of "ecological of Jinming, century-old foundation". In order to adhering to the environmental protection policy of "compliance with laws and regulations, prevention and control of pollution, energy conservation and consumption reduction, and harmonious development". We (Jinming) strictly comply with laws and regulations such as:

• The Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China
• The National Environmental Policy, Law, and relevant regulations

We have established an environmental management system for all production areas of the company and has passed the ISO14001 environmental management system certification.

The Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Management Committee of Jinming been set up in which chaired by the General Manager of the company, with department heads serving as team members. Who’s main responsible for guiding, inspecting, and supervising the company's resource use, emission management, and other environmental management work.

We has also formulated management systems such as the "HSE Management Measures" and "GHG Quantification and Management Regulations", which require the company to develop a series of environmental management methods and objectives based on the relevant requirements of the operating location and industry, with the aim of continuously improving Jin Ming's environmental management capabilities.

Our Actions

In April 2023, Jinming and a third-party certification agency (CTI) jointly conducted a comprehensive Greenhouse Gas emission verification on all production sites of the company for 2022.

Jinming's total carbon emissions in Scope 1 and Scope 2 were 3368t CO₂e in 2022, and CTI issued a greenhouse gas emission verification certificate (certificate number: 04123GHG0172).

At the same time, Jinming submitted a 2023 environmental disclosure questionnaire survey report on the CDP official website in July, and the scores for the disclosure period will be announced to the public in early 2024.   

Our Target

At the beginning of 2023, with the promotion and assistance of our important customer SAFRAN, Jinming began to launch a carbon neutrality plan. We carefully examined our own greenhouse gas emissions, worked hard to explore the company's road-map to achieve carbon neutrality, and constantly thought about how to contribute to China and even the global response to climate change issues.

Main goals been decided by the HSE Management Committee that Jinming:

• Achieve a 50% reduction in carbon emissions from its own operations by no later than 2030, with 2022 as the base year
• Launch emission reduction actions for Scope 3 supply chain no later than 2040
• By no later than 2060, achieve comprehensive carbon neutrality in its own operations and supply chain.

Achieving those goals are not an easy task, but we believe it is the right thing to do.

Our Measures

Jin Ming had taken and will take actions in the following areas in order to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality by 2060:

50. Energy use

• Using fossil fuels with lower unit carbon emission coefficients; (such as replacing official vehicles with new energy vehicles, etc.)
• Replacing equipment with renewable energy and strong electrification.
• Directly improving the efficiency of fossil energy use；
• Purchasing Green Power Agreement

50. Renovation of important production processes, technologies, and equipment

• Energy efficiency analysis；
• Reduce material consumption, waste treatment, downstream usage, and other emissions by improving product and process design.
• Replacement of energy-saving technologies in various stages; (For example, all lighting in the workshop and office area is replaced by LED lights, etc.)
• Backward, high energy consuming equipment replacement; (such as energy-saving renovation projects for air compressor systems, adoption of SCB-14 series energy-saving and efficient transformers, etc.)
• Resource recycling and utilization (solid waste, wastewater, waste heat, steam, etc.) (such as the construction of kitchen waste heat recovery and rainwater recovery system projects in Dongguan Industrial Park)

50. Operational transformation

• Paperless office；
• Using intelligent lighting systems; (For example, setting up an automatic sensing system and control system in the public area of Dongguan Industrial Park to achieve zoning, timing control, etc.)
• Using a distributed heating system

50. Improvement in the supply chain links

• Adjust the upstream procurement supplier review system, instill awareness of low carbon and emission reduction in upstream, investment portfolios, and partners, assist in carbon verification, and set emission reduction targets for low carbon work；
• Provide low-carbon education to internal employees, encourage emission reduction behavior, and calculate carbon emissions such as employee travel and commuting；
• Centralized production site location, reduced cross regional allocation, improved logistics transportation and efficiency, and certification of product carbon footprint (such as centralized management of Dongguan Industrial Park site).
